Had a 69 F-100 years ago, bought in Canada it was miles per hour.We didn't see that funny Km per hour until later on. All our vehicles are Km per hour now.Funny thing is a lot of people still talk miles per hour and miles per gal. Just another thought, I can drive further on a gal. of gas then you because our gal is a little bigger. Why has it been always that way?

"Because the sun never sets on the British empire"....just a guess.
For those of you who don't know...
An Imperial Gallon is 5 qts
An American gallon is 4 qts

Why the difference, no idea?

The speedos up here were mph until about '77. They started brainwashing the kids with metric textbooks a couple of years earlier. Metric speedometers were available earlier for the export vehicles, though.
