Been awhile, must share.

Post by cathynkeith »

Hello all, I have not been here in a long while, but still have my bump. Have been to the track a few times trying to sort out the 418 stroker, 1st time out ran 13.00 popping and not shifting right, best time now is 12.56 but it was still popping off the line, thought it was lean, but installed 02s and f/a monitor tuned and still popped only on the large slicks, on the small slicks it woould spin and get past the popping. Figured out it was constipated, shorty header and 3 inch exhaust was not enough, even with the cut out open. Custom made long tube headers, custom crossmember and now the beast is alive. Total change of attitude, now to retune with a 850 quick fuel carb in place of the holly 750.
Looking forward to the weather coolling down, not going in this 100+ heat. Next step is to put the c-6 with 8 inch converter back in in place of the AOD, cam comes on at 3k can not stall past 1900 right now. Running with AOD for time before change over.
I am currently rebuilding the origional 302 into a 348 stroker supercharged with fuel injection, will put back in with AOD and make a driver out of it. Plan on putting the 418/C6 in my 72 Maverick race car.
Also been racing my 75 Nova, built 383 stroker ran 12.3 on motor, ran 10.98 on 175 shot, bench seat, column shift slapper bars 3.73 gears, b&m th350....I think that is pretty good for a cheby.

Here is what I am sharing, great looking rig:
