is this a bumpside?
Ok guys, i was at work yesterday when a FireTruck arrived. Beyond it is old and therefore is beautiful, i noticed that is FORD, but the question is: Can you consider this Fire truck as a bumpside?

Re: is this a bumpside?
I would hold short of calling a bump side since it lacks the body line bump, but it is one of the Ford family.
What year is it? It is a neat old truck and looks to be in great shape.

As a matter of fact, it was only made as a Fire Truck about an hour an a half from where I live. SWEET.

Looking at the dash there, anyone know if that instument panel interchangeable with a bumpside? been looking for the 600/700 cluster but it's slim pickings. I have not had a chance to get up close to one of thses C series.

Re: is this a bumpside?
It's really a really cool cab over (COE?). Roadway used to still have lots of them just a few years ago. I think those do fall in the 67-72 range. I don't know if they are considered "F-series" or "pickup trucks". Probably not a bumpside but very cool.
They are called C-series.

Ford C series. The C-Series cab was designed by Ford, tooled at Ford's expenses and built by the Budd Company to Ford Motor Company specifications.
We had 3 Ford fire trucks back in the day. Stout trucks. All 3 of ours were C-8000 canopy cabs & had the 3208 cat diesel/Allison auto. & they would scream with a full tank of water.

Ford C-Series. They were built from the 50s until the early 90s!!
I actually started a thread about them only some weeks ago
http://www.fordification.com/forum/view ... 16&t=52671
Here are some more pictures:
http://www.flickriver.com/groups/133532 ... teresting/
Here you can see how little they changed the design between the first design in the mid fifties and the last one in the 90s:

I would LOVE to own one of them someday

If somebody happens to spot one that says MACK above the grille don't assume somebody had some extra emblems and too much time on their hands. Mack trucks used the same cab on their "N" models in the eary 60's. Canadian fire truck builder Pierre Thibault and Walter Truck company also used this cab on some of their rigs.

Re: is this a bumpside?
A Dept a few miles from mine has a early 70's F-600 brush truck. STILL IN SERVICE. My Dept has a 76(?) Dodge 600 STILL IN SERVICE. I dont know about Belott's old Ford but our old dodge has a 360 and 4-speed manual with NO POWER STEERING! Its a nightmare to drive, turtle slow with only 700 gallons of water. We do however have a sweet 2005 F-450 Brush truck with a 300 gallon tank
Rumor has it that our county is going to furnish us a complete new engine and we can junk the Dodge. About time.
One of those old C-cabs just retired from a sub station in Lufkin Texas. It was a small engine.

1969 F100. All factory 360, 4-speed, candy apple red one owner. Incredible truck!
