Headlight question

Post by TexasTruck72 »

Today,I noticed one of my headlights has burned out, the low beam to be exact 'cause the high beam part still works. Since purchasing my bump, I haven't had to replace a headlight yet.

Is there a lot to it(in terms if difficulty)? I wouldn't think so.
Any tips or tricks to removing it?
Does anyone know of a good brand of light or part number to replace it with?

Thanks,

It's a standard 3-prong high/low headlamp, used on virtually every American car/truck. Any parts store (or even Walmart) will have those.

To replace, just remove the 4 screws holding the headlight door, then another 3 to remove the lamp retaining ring. Then just pull the headlamp forward a little and unplug it. Installation is the reverse.

when gettign a new one. either replace both o fthem so they match. ie: halogen or standard. or match the new one to the old one as far as type. it will shine brighter on one side if yo uhave a halogen on one side and a standard on the other side.

just make sure you're unscrewing the headlight retaining ring and not the headlight adjusting screws or your headlight will end up out of adjustment.

Before I went with the ebay crystal headlight swap I always swapped both at the same time. If I didn't the other one would burn out with in a month is seemed. I guess since they both burn the same amount of time they burn out pretty close to the same time
If you want brighter lights look up the relay mod for the head light. I think it is called Brighter lights.
I did that and added the halogen type bulbs and man what a difference.
