Little critter hanging around at work

Post by AK F100 »

I've been filling in at a different worksite and this is the first time I have seen one of these in the wild. This picture was taken by someone else. When I saw it the first time, it was about a mile out and on the drive home for the night, it was about 200-300 yards off the side of the access road. This is one of two that were hanging around.

Since you're taking pics of the local wildlife maybe you could get some of that Hottie on Ice Road Truckers.

She does not come around where I'm at. I'm not sure if she does any field work or if she does only the long hauls.

Here is another one, but this one was taken near a different worksite about 30-40 miles away. The size of these guys still amaze me, especially the paws.

I got a whole new respect for Polar Bears after watching a show that explained they are descendants of Grizzly bears! :help:
Glad we only have to worry about black or brown bears.
A friend sent an email about a "supposed" sign up in Canada, explaining to watch for bears and what to do. Basically it said, for Black bears, make a lot of noise, and for Grizzly bears wear bells so you don't sneak up on them, and carry pepper spray just in case.
It also said to learn to read what kind of bear is in the area by the pooh. Black bears have smaller poohs with berries, while a Grizzly Bear pooh will have lots of bells, and smell like pepper...

That's the truth. There are many buildings up here that have Bear Cages on the exterior doors.

Funny you mentioned the brownies. We had one down at the shop where I get to work on the trucks.

This was up at my in-laws place. My father-in-law and I were away at work. My wife and her mom had just pushed the trash trailer into the shop the day before. When they saw the bear, they just made sure everyone was inside and they brought the dogs in from the front porch. They usually only have black bears hanging around, but they get the brownies every few years.
