Camping trip (with a few pictures)

Post by Happy_Camper »

Just got back from a weeks camping up at Wrights Lake (just above Ice House Reservoir in Northern California).
Bump did pretty good climbing the hills. The last 13 miles goes from about 4,000 ft elevation to a little over 7,300 feet.
Was an awesome week. Drove into Tahoe on Monday with just the truck, G.F. and dogs. Wednesday we had to go all the way down to Shingle Springs to dump the tanks in the trailer. Man that was hot!
Here's a shot of the lake. Water is pretty low right now:

And a huge Rainbow trout (must have been all of 8" ) By the way, this was the only fish we caught. And I only "caught" it with the camera...

Weather was perfect, and the week went great.
Nothing like a great week of camping! :woohoo:

Yeah, the bottom is really sandy. And the water is super clear. Even when it gets stirred up, it settles right back down. I'm guessing because the area has a lot of granite, so the sand is fairly heavy. The water where the fish picture was taken is about a foot deep.
Not sure what was with the fish. It came up into the shallow and just hung out, but was breathing really heavy (for a fish anyway... :hmm: ) Sat there breathing for a while, while I took it's picture. Then it just cruised off. I was expecting it's agent to show up and ask for a fee.

Looks great, my wife and I love camping. Been to long since we have gone. Thanks for sharing.

Nice to see the truck getting a workout. Great looking truck & camper combo by the way.

Looks like a great place to camp. I visited Tahoe in the real early 90's and it was beautiful.

Looks like a great time. I never made it there when I lived in Carson. I did camp/fish at twin lakes and that was a great place/time. I'm sure Wright's lake is just as awesome.
