New guy
I've just come into posession of a 1967 f-100 Ranger. pretty much fixable for WI. One caveat, no title. Can a guy just get a vin plate and title from a junker? Where could I find one?

Re: New guy
swapping vin plates is illegal and im pretty sure its fraud.... You should be able to get a title issued to you with the current vin number. Call your local tag agent for information before you move forward.

Sure you can, then when you are sitting in a jail cell you can wonder why you did it. Maybe you can go the salvaged vehicle route. I agree with dbarker, ask your DMV.

Re: New guy
There are guys on classicbroncos that are all the time looking to buy titles to register their projects with, I always wondered about that myself.

Re: New guy
i know that here in GA that is you have a bill of sale and the vin on the vechicle matches the bill of sale then you can get a title for the vechicle that is what i am having to do with mine even though it has been in the family for 30 years i lost the title when my brother signed it over to me the thing i am dreading the most is that when i get ready to put tags on it i'm gonna pay a boat load in fees its now going on 5 yrs since anything was paid on it

Re: New guy
I was afraid of that myself when I sold a truck on e-Bay a few months ago that I hadn't registered or even bothered to transfer into my name when I purchased it about six years ago...I wanted to make sure I provided the buyer with a good clean current title...Surprisingly, I didn't have to pay any penalties---just the normal transfer fee...Maybe Georgia is just as nice as Arizona on such things...69rangerf100 wrote:i know that here in GA that is you have a bill of sale and the vin on the vechicle matches the bill of sale then you can get a title for the vechicle that is what i am having to do with mine even though it has been in the family for 30 years i lost the title when my brother signed it over to me the thing i am dreading the most is that when i get ready to put tags on it i'm gonna pay a boat load in fees its now going on 5 yrs since anything was paid on it
