So how was yalls day?

Post by jbohall001 »

Well, today I bought myself a fan blade. I also yanked a shifter assembly and cable out of a 98 mustang gt, and it works wonderfully. I just ordered my wheel adapters from summit racing too! So they should be in soon. Yay me. Anyone else have happy news they want to share?

Got my weedeater put back together today. Only 2 years old (Ryobi straight shaft w/ attachments) and the throttle cable broke. Got the new throttle cable and routed it 3 weeks ago. The trick is putting the trigger/kill switch mechanism back together! I've been fiddling with it for 3 weeks. It takes 4 hands and a cross eyed monkey to put it all back together. I'll fiddle with it for an hour and the spring will pop out, or the cable with come out of the hole or the safety catch will come off the spindle or the kill switch will pop out or the wires will slip out of their slot or............. Well, you get the idea. When I start throwing tools, I'll stop and go back in the house and wait another day or two and tackle it again. Been like that for 3 weeks. For some reason, today, God smiled on me. Got bored this afternoon and thought I'd tackle it again. Went together in 15 minutes without a hitch! Don't know what I did different but it just fell into place and it actually works! Then grabbed the '73 disc brake spindles I'd bought 3 months ago and started cleaning some of the gunk off of them. It's been a good day.

Not bad, except I when I was driving in the driver's ed car today. We were on Highway 17 in the turning lane and I was going to make a left turn onto highway 50 towards Maple Hill. I was sitting there looking for traffic so I could go. Traffic was pretty bad then (5:00ish so rush-hour traffic) and it didn't look like I was getting chance to turn anytime soon plus it's not a protected turn there or anything, he tells me to go and grabs the wheel for me and starts to turn it. I see a Pontiac Grand-Am coming in the drive lane and there wasn't really enough of a time gap for me to make the turn in front of the Pontiac or behind it because there was another wave of traffic behind him so I don't take it and he sits there and asks me why I didn't take the turn. :x, There was no way I could have made it, he didn't even know the car was coming (So much for an extra set of eyes, he didn't even see the car) man I was ticked off. I made the turn perfectly as soon as I got the chance too, that was a very quiet ride up to Maple Hill (About a 30-45 minute or so ride) Feels good to get that out . On a good note he did see my dad last night when I pulled up and let my dad know that I was a great driver 8), I've got the day off from driving today and will finish my driving on Thursday so I should finally be getting my permit soon :woohoo:.
