Do you have to hide bump $$$ from the wife?

Post by sargentrs »

Or spouse if you're a woman? I set up a second checking account through my credit union at work. I have $50 each check direct deposited separately from the household checking/savings account. That's my stash for bump parts and tools. If my wife knew how much I've spent, already, preparing for the rebuild, she'd have a fit! I've got a lighted 10' crawlspace area under my house that's my "man cave". Dank and musty, she won't go in there unless there's a tornado or something. But I've got a nice little workbench area and all my power tools and yard stuff kept in there set up in the front. In the back though.......... 8)

Aluminum mags, disc brake parts, p/s column/gear box, 3 p/s pumps (2 mustang, 1 truck), a/c compressor and brackets, C4, Edelbrock intake and 600cfm carb, 3.00 gear set, fender and inner apron, pile of trim and badges, etc. She thinks I got most of for free or paid pennies for parts. The disc brake spindles alone cost me $150! In addition, I've bought a boatload of tools and diagnostics equip that I stash in my truck box and "man cave". She refuses to ride in "the beast" and doesn't understand my love for my truck or why I won't just junk it and buy a newer used truck :hmm:

Needless to say, she's fairly pampered and I never deny her if she wants to spend reasonably on personal pleasures like hair, nails, makeup, and other girl stuff. She's fairly high maintenance but a good woman nonetheless.

As I do not work She knows what I spend, however she is good about funding.
We have decided that I will build the toys that I would otherwise buy if I was still able to work

Eggman, where I can I get a wife like that! LOL

I don't how she could be ticked off, Ranger, sounds to me like you got a great deal on those parts! They can spend $300 at the dress store and say they "saved" us $200 cause it was "on sale". Looks like you "saved" a ton of money on your truck!

Shouldn't keep secrets from your better 1/2. that in itself ends up contributing to the fits :argue: . 50, 50, helps out a lot. I treat my wife right, she treats me right. Thats why I am a happy guy after over 35 yrs together, and I hope many more. Within our budget she gets what she wants, and I get what I want. I'll bet you treat your other 1/2 right eggman, way to go.
My late father used to hid things, and keep secrets fom mom thinking he was protecting her. Or that is what he said. Took a lot of years, but boy howdy that sure blew up in his face.

Me and my girlfriend have been dating 2 years, we have plans for getting married. She knows about my obsession. I bleed blue, I an 22 and have 4 Fords. my 1969 F100 is my budget project, I got it in awesome shape. My money pit is my 1968 Mustang coupe, I estimate it will take $35,000 to finish. She knows this, she said that she woud support me and be willing to help me work on my car, WITH ONE LITTLE HITCH! I have to help her with me 1990 Chevrolet Z71 (YUCK) She is a Chevy girl, chistmas at her house looks like a used chevy lot. She has an obnoxious old chevy she loves, the dang thing may end up needing a rebuild soon, thats going to be fun. Nothing I hate more than a 350. BUT I can stand it in exchange for my toys being left alone.

As for my bump, she likes it, my 8ft bed really showed her truck (swb with tool box) up when we helped her family move. She likes my old truck, it heats up MUST faster than that Chevy (now THATS funny) But she cant drive it because her bosoms tend to make the steering wheel hard for her to turn.
1969 F100. All factory 360, 4-speed, candy apple red one owner. Incredible truck!

I take care of our checkbook and my wife knows what I spend on the trucks. We have my 70 F250, her 70 F100 and our 68 F250. When I need parts, she tells me to just get it. We have a deal that I can get extra stuff for the trucks and she can get boots when she sees a pair she likes. She knew my love for these trucks when we got married.

Why is it that the trucks are always the best running vehicles in the family?

My wife does the bookkeeping and check writing. The 68 is our hobby we see eye to eye on what it needs, and find a way to get it done. My wife is a country girl and liked the truck from day one. We have been married 43 years and have had the 68 39 years.
