cleaning out around the bump

Post by 69rangerf100 »

so tonight i got motivated to straighten up the garage around the bump and some of the other side of the garage but mainly around the bump so that i can work on it. before i started there wasnt any room to walk around the back side of the frame. i even had boxes of parts sitting on the back of the frame. now the frame has nothing stacked on top of it. i moved alot of the big parts that i had and put them in the crawl space up off the ground. now i have a pretty good work area around my side of the garage soon i plan to take the chassis out of the garage and move it to the side of the house and pull the cab off and build the cab rollers so that i can easily move the cab around while i am working on it.

Just do what I do... dehydrate all your parts (they'll shrink down 70% to 90% of their original size), store them in zip lock bags that you've labeled. Place them inside the house where they'll remain moisture free. When you're ready for the parts, just add water and presto they return to their original size. It amazes friends & family!

Now if you believe that one, boy do I have a piece of swamp land... err ah... perfect land I'd Love to sell ya!

How about those vacuum storage bags? Do they work as well? If it'll pack a king size comforter to the size of a T shirt, imagine what it'll do to a inner fender! When I built my garage I figured on 22'x22' and said that's big enough for anything so I had the pad poured that size. First time I parked my truck on it I said.......Uh oh........shoulda poured a bigger pad. Not sure what I'm going to do when I tear her down this summer. Wife's got half the garage so her hair doesn't get wet in the rain. Probably going to have to stand the bed up against the back wall and set the cab on the frame, moving it front to back as I clean and paint. Interior stuff will have to go under the house, I've got a tall crawlspace. Fenders and such too. Her car doesn't fill up her half of the garage so I'm hoping she'll lease me the 1st six feet or so.....

i feel your pain on that one. my bed is in the back yard on my small utility trailor with a tarp over it. i was sliding the cab back and worth on the frame while i was painting it. got the frame back to a rolling chassis last week now i have to find a big enough tarp to cover the frame while it is outside while i strip the cab and prep it for pain and strip and prep the doors and the front end for paint

Heck I don't even have a garage to work out of. With winter coming on I'll only be doing the most necessary things to my bumps.
