My new zero turn

Post by fomocoguy »

I just thought I'd show you guys the new (to me) zero turn I just bought. I say that tounge in cheek because it's definetly not what you think and I'm willing to bet most of you have never seen one. Check it out!
Image
It's a 1994 Swisher "Big Mow". They were built here in Missouri from the fifties up until 2001 with the same basic design. The front wheel does the driving, and to go in reverse you just turn the wheel till it's facing the opposite direction. This one has an 8hp Briggs with a 32" cut. It sat in a barn for years because the old man that bought it realized his yard was too hilly and rough for it, so it has very low hours on it. I can't wait to use it tomorrow! I've been trying to locate a decent one for about 2 years now, just because I think their very different and neat.

That's pretty cool. Nice and simple too. I can see why it wouldn't be great for hilly or rough terrain.

 Yeah I'm not sure how much beer I'll consume riding this one, but I suppose if I leave the blade disengaged...

I saw some video of someone riding theirs on you tube and it looks like a ton of fun. I'll find out later today. Mine has the rare optional "VariSpeed" which has a pedal that controls speed like a gas pedal instead of a two speed shift lever. Just press and go!

I have 3 riders and have had others in the past. They aren't worth their salt unless they have a beer, errrrr, water holder for the thirsty mowing man.

Well, she mows great! It really does resemble driving a bumper car. The only thing I don't like is that I finished my yard in about 2/3 the time as usual (I actually enjoy cutting the grass so it kinda takes some of the fun away). However, literally turning around on a dime is a blast...
