Car show
I entered my truck in a car show at our local ford dealer,It was put on by the Ocala Stan club.anyway was looking good then out of the clear blue sky here come this 1976 Ford F-100 a truck that everyone stopped and looked at.It was the one on the cover of NPD parts book.I said I didn't have a snowball chance in hell of winning. He beat out all the Mustangs and they were the ones who put on the show,I talked to the owner and asked him a few question about the truck and all he said was he pays someone do all the work on the truck. But it sure was a nice truck.OH I did come in 3rd. place. For the rest of the pics see my albums:thup:

Re: Car show
Great Job!
Third spot is nothing to sneeze at. That's awesome, especially doing all the work yourself
It would be nice to see the pro-built cars in another class, but at small shows, it's kind of impractical. So in reality, you finished second (if the first place vehicle was home built).
I've met a lot of people that are really into cars, but don't have the time or the talent it takes to build one up that would meet their expectations.
I like what these people bring to the hobby. They usually have a vision and a passion for Americana. And they have the money and savvy to see things through to fruition.
We all benefit from that, directly and indirectly.

Yes I have a lot of pictures but don't know how to down load them from the camera to the web site, maybe I can get my daughter to do some of them.I do get upset when they have a ford enter and it is Chevy power and wins the show. That has happen alot, I think they should have there own class. But thanks for the encouragement

Re: Car show
yeah I think building it yourself is the best part and makes the truck yours... but I still like to have things done.
For example... my preference is dropping off the chassis at a sandblaster place because it saves you a ridiculous amount of time and work, and that part is no where near fun. But I paint the chassis. Body work I prefer a pro to do, because I don't have the tools and equipment.
But all other stuff is done by me.
I doubt the guy payed to have the truck put together, probably just paid to have it painted, bought all new parts, and put it all together himself. If he did pay to have it put together then that's lame

Re: Car show
Thats what he told me it was his dad truck and he had it restored by some one here in Ocala. He told me who did it bot I don't remember.I agree with you on certain things you have to have someone else do it but then you do the rest.I had a friend do all my paint and body work but I put it back together and all the rest I did.But the body person gets all the credit at the shows.(Like man they sure did a good job painting your truck who did it) But that OK he a good friend and needs the credit.

Re: Car show
I think it would be fun to pick up my truck after a prop did a restoration for me. I don't have much time on my hands.
