I'm so excited......I just cant hide it?

Post by 71fordkid »

So my bumpless streak has come to an end. Some of you remember that I wrecked the black and white bump in my sig last january. Since then, I've compiled a whole lot of parts, a 390 and a C6, and another longbed bump (which has since been parted out).

Well last Wednesday while cruising craigslist, I came across a little gem. A 72 F100, 302, C4, barely any rust, and an almost straight body! I was going to get rid of my daily driver anyways (a 1987 Toyota Supra), so I called the guy and he was interested! Thursday we met up, and I now am the proud owner of another bump!

The best part???? STEP SIDE!!!!! I mean, how many of these do you actually see? I know this is the second for me.

Yes, we are a ford family, 84 f150, 93 f250, 72 f100, and the carcas of a 69 f100.

It got a 302, and to my suprise, tucked between those chrome valve covers and air cleaner (Chrome dont get ya home...) sat a performer 289 intake and a 4-bbl Edelbrock carb. It also has a double hump pan, so it may be out of a Fox body 'stang...

Nice. What is the seat out of? I'm looking to upgrade the Butt-Rest in my 68 one of these days.

I have no idea. I think a late 80s f150? the factory seat is going back in it. The grant wheel is coming out, and i dunno if i'll have enough room with the bigger factory wheel. The girlfriend likes the seat, and i like the arm rest, but it just doesnt say Bump to me. I mean it just doesnt fit. especially with it being red in a blue truck.

Good day 71FordKid,

Your new truck looks extremely nice! It seems like you found a great deal. And like you, my favorite thing about it is that fashionable flareside bed! The paint looks very nice too. Well done.

Thanks for the complements. A lot of little things are gettin done today. The old black and white grill that was on the wrecked truck is on now, replaced the window regulaotor and the drivers side arm rest. I gotta find my steering wheel puller and do the turn signal switch, and i think im gonna swap the mini-spool'd third from the wrecked truck in today and put the old tires on too.

, That's a great looking Flareside! It looks to be pretty solid, I'm glad you finally found another bump to replace the black/white one. What are your plans for it so far other than the spool from your other truck and seat/steering wheel and such?

I second what fordkid had to say. It looks just like a mid-late '80s F-150 seat.

Thanks. I actually dont have alot of plans for it. Im gonna slowly but surely start building my 390 with ported/polished heads, performer rpm intake, 750 holley carb, hedman headers, and flat top pistons. I'm gonna wait till after a huuuuge car show in september to lower it. Im gonna see how many compliments i get on it stock and then go the year after with it lowered. I have a finished wood bed kit sans the chrome pieced to go in, and a straight tail gate. I'm gonna get some '50's style flareside tail lights to go with it (the ones that say "ford" on the top of the lense), but i have no idea what im gonna do for paint.
