Why the attitude?

Post by mybros71 »

I have been a member of this forum for a while but don't have that many posts. I've noticed a FEW pretty well-established members who, on a regular basis get pretty snotty in their replies to opinions or suggestions. I know I don't know it all, and I'm never afraid to admit when I'm wrong or stumped. It doesn't matter if I'm talking to people in person or chatting on a forum, I try to be respectful and polite.

I wonder what it is that makes these fellers act like asses (donkeys). Is it the anonymity of the internet or the lack of fear that they'll get socked in the nose for being a smart-ass or treating a guy like an idiot?

This furum is still awesome, I just got to thinking.

i havent seen any snotty posts. it may just be misread communications. i do know soemtimes my posts seem dry and hard sounding. but then i try to stay to the facts at times. and don't go into alot of explanations at tiems. because so many of us answer the same question over and over and over. that you may end up getting more than the same answer twice or three times. so i leave room at times for others to come in a fill in what i didnt say.

Ditto, the search function is your friend.

I find it ironic that when I came on here I read a lot of threads over a couple days before even saying 'Hi' so I didn't sound like an idiot of offend folks right off the bat.

I shall speak to this. I have seen what I believe he speaks of. A question by a new person is asked and several longtimers answer. These guys can get to bantering in a way that can seem nasty but it is really old buddies flipping crap at each other. Also another confusion happens when feathers get ruffled in some other post and somebody kinda gets condescended to unintentionally by the fellow who was irritated from something unrelated. I am no psychologist I just have seen the pattern from reading a buttload of old posts back as far as 2005. And failing to search is an issue often, I concur.

I laughed when I read it. S'ok. Ifn we need a slightly edgy hint we get it. Had I been more detailed in my post u wouldn't have needed to say it. The Internet requires a lot of detail and tolerance and I guess I am ok with finding a lighter outlook. I am almost 40 now. We are all different and we are many. Look. Talk it out when the dust settles. General good idea for stuff like this. We can have rough spots and still get along. Fordman, btw is not rude he is blunt. There is a difference. He talks to a LOT of people. That limits his time w each of us.

This has got to be the most mild, well behaved forum on the interwebs. Some occasional bickering, but nothing compared to most.

Having said that, i do have a little tip for everybody. Dont ever, EVER talk about certain products that may or may not have been made overseas.  YIKES! :dk: The soapboxes come out..

Reminds me of my family. We argue, snap, cut each other down, bad mouth, and downright FIGHT! But, when it's all said and done, we love each other, would be the first at their side in battle, and give our lives in their defense! The worst arguments I've ever had were with kinfolk. By the way...... :wel: from N. Georgia!

I can't say I've ever seen deliberate snotty replies. Because of lack of emotion of the spoken word, typed words can often be misinterpreted.
