You can do it. Hang in there. Good for you. Remember never say try, just do it. I know 1st hand it is hard, but you will overcome.

Oh man, I know exactly how that goes. Im going through the same thing with dental work. And Icant imagine it would be any fun to have dentures. at least thats what ive been told. I dont know if smoking is the same addictive feeling like chewing but in the past ive learned to keep a pack of strong peppermint chewing gum in my pocket. every time I would get a craving Pop a couple peices in and chew like hell. it was usually enough to distract me and id forget about the nicotine craving. Keep us posted Ranger!

I've read that every time a smoker attempts to quit the more likely they will be successful; at least that's what current studies indicate. So it's probably better that you've already tried before, the odds are in your favor!

i ran out the other day. and i thought to myself. yes i can do it. i drove home without one at all. as long as i was working at doing something i was ok. but when i sat down here at the computer. i had to have one. i do think i could make it without them. but them something inside me says dont try to quit. i dont know why. the thought that is saying this to me is almost like a warning. "if you quit something may go wrong" but i say to myself what could go wrong? i would be all hyper again not know which way to turn i guess. that i sthe only thought i have abotu why i cant quit.

I've been smokeless for 17 years now. Just went cold-turkey.

One night I was dumping my garbage all over the [censored] floor looking for a butt to smoke. Suddenly I realized what I was doing and said something that I can't repeat here. So I decided something needed to change. For the umteenth time I quite, again.

On the third day I thought I was going to kill someone. Then something changed, and it started to become easier.

Some people have found help at places like Nicotine Anonymous. All I can say about them is that my name is Bob and I am a nicotine addict.

PM me if you want to talk about it.

David,

I hope this morning finds you tobacco free still! I haven't made new years resolutions for many years now, but made one this year. It was to at least slow down on my smoking. :shh:

yes i am now 47 hours free. it really wasnt a resolution it just happened to be i ran out of them on 12/31 at 8am. the thing that is gonna be rough on me is the driving b/c that is where i smoked the most b/c i have an hour and a half commute to the office luckily i dont have to drive to the office on monday so that will give me 3 days at home with limited driving so that will give me 72 hours and i am off tuesday so that will 96 hours before i really have to make the trek to the office so hopefully i wont have to many cravings at that point

I went from 3 backs a day to cold turkey. It was in 91, haven't had one since. I ran 8 - 10 miles every day and also when I got the urge I would write a little in a journal. The running lasted for 6 years, never missed a day, rain or shine. I still do the writting thing. The key for me was, when you give up something you create a void in your life. You must fill that void with something else. Sounds like you are doing good.
