Lotta rain

Post by Mancar1 »

I read in a post where BobbyFord mentioned all the rain in the L.A. area. It brought back memories. I remember living in Murphy Canyon Navy Housing in the San Diego area. Didn't rain often, but oh boy when it did. Back in 79 it rained so hard it flooded the local shopping center, it had been built on a creek bed that hadn't seen water for like a 100 years. What were they thinking :? We lived up on a high hill and we still flooded, had to wade through knee deep water to get into the house. Came within inches of flooding our home. When it stopped raining everyone was without power for about a week.
We lived on a cul-d-sac, everyone took BBQs out to the center and we had a huge cookout before our meat went bad. Gotta say I do miss all the comradery of the Military members, and familys. Same thing in Az. when I recruited, floods when it rains. Bad drainage systems there.

Yes I hear ya. When I was stationed on a Destoyer out of Seattle area whenever we had a day with no rain, seemed like the whole neighborhood was out doing yardwork. Got kinda used to the rain. Course where I live now has all 4 seasons which I enjoy.

Snow in SoCal rarely happens (except in the mountains of course). Some relatives of mine in Castaic CA sent me this pic of their BBQ on 1-2-2011:
