Once upon a time (about 41 years ago) a young man went to the Ford dealer to buy a truck. He was married and had a daughter, and a son on the way. He needed the truck to haul his family's camper, and to tow his motorcycles to races and such. He also bought it for the reason of possibly passing it on to his soon to be born son one day. Well a bout 6 yrs ago that time came, knowing the truck was not being used as much as it once was, he was convinced it was time to pass it on (I too plan on passing the truck on to my son someday as well).
So now I have it, and for the past few years I have been unable to give it the attention it so desperately needs.......................until now that is. I will basically be just freshening it up a bit, paint and body work, going through the brakes, motor etc. I will however be lifting it about 4" with cut and turned beams, and a Deaver leaf pack in the rear. Also putting in a locker and either 4.56 or 4.88 gears in the D 60.
Well, enough rambling, here are some pics of the start:

I started taking the trim off to prepare it for some body work and paint work:
Today the brake system gets torn apart!

Re: Project "Heritage"
Wow, talk about coincidence!
I have a `69 F100 Custom Cab, doesn't have the Ranger or Camper Special packages, but it is the same color (two-tone Cordova over WImbledon White) and virually the same story. He bought the truck new, about 3 months after I was born, in October of `68. Had only been on the dealers lot for a couple days, according to what he once told me.
Great story, and a nice looking truck. Good luck with the refreshening.

I too appreciate and like the story. Looks like your dad took great care of that truck. Add to it A/C... makes it even better!

Thanks for the kind words guys, I am looking forward to getting "Betsy" (as my dad called her) back to looking her best. Today I took the front brake system, and master cyl and booster off. Years of sitting definetly took it's toll on the ol' girl, everything was seized up and gave a little bit of a fight. Now I am looking into getting the replacements for everything.

Good morning Ryno,
Thanks for all the excellent photos of your F250; it looks fantastic!
Your disc brake photos remind me of going through those on my own truck during Winter 2009. Perhaps you'd be entertained by skimming through a few related threads:
#50: 1972 F250 8,100lb GVW Disc Brakes (Tons of Photos)
Which booster is right for my F250 w/disc (8,100lb GVW)?
What are these rubber inserts in disc brake arms?
If you have any trouble finding replacement caliper mounting pin insulators you may wish to check out the first thread in this list. The early calipers used a different type than the later calipers did, and you'll find part numbers for both in that thread.

Cool, thanks for the info. I will be getting parts this week, and I will update the progress. If I get stuck, I'll refer to those threads.
Thanks

Well, still waiting to get some parts to put the old girl back together, though I did get a "new" to me hood that is in better shape than mine was.
