our new snow

Post by fordman »

here is a picture of my wifes car and how the wind that was blowing made the snow land. there are drifts everwhere. we spent a few minutes diging out the car and truck. then we used the car and truck to run over and pack down the fluffy snow and plow some of it away from where we park. most of the snow around the house was over ankle deep. probably the biggest snow i have seen in several years. possibly since i was a kid.

We didn't get much snow out of the storm, but we got somereally cold temps. It's -18 as I type this. Night before last I got to spend about 6 hrs in sub zero temps with 20 to 25 mph winds, our conveyors at work were freezing up and trying to keep them going was a real PITA.

No snow, a little sleet and slime and a good bit of rain. Of course last night it got cold and windy. All the melt froze solid, even the dogs fell down going out to pee this morning...

We got 20" of snow here and i have 3' or deeper drifts. The wife and i went to town yesterday and since i had 4wd i moved over for a cat and got stuck myself. I got stuck in a very deep ditch I got lucky a neighbor that lives about 1.5 miles from me that has a little toyota like mine came by as i was trying to get mine out and pulled me out. I do know im gonna have to get me some detroit lockers for my truck along with my 5:29 gears i was smelling clutch when i was trying to get out. This is from trying to turn the 35's with the stock 4:10 gears.

We are supposed to get some snow here this evening which is pretty unusual. I live in San Antonio, TX and haven't seen any measurable snow since 1985.

Be sure to find yourself a big open parking lot to do some donuts in before it melts away! It may be another 25 years before you get another chance...

They said we were gonna have a horrible storm with an inch of ice, then 2-4 inches of sleet, then 12-24 inches of snow, but it cut north at the last minute and ran right into chicago. You would have thought the world was ending the way the news talked about it.

Well we did get a thin layer of ice and then a very thin layer of some kind of pebble snow over it. The ground was cold enough so it ain't melting. City will pretty much be shut down until it all melts hopefully this afternoon. I did do a fishtail on my way to mcdonalds. No doughnuts yet though.

It started snowing here this morning around 7. We have an inch now and it is still falling. Everything here shuts down when it snows so the kids are home. I don't work on Fridays so it is no big deal to me. Hopefully it will all be gone before I go back to work Monday.

More truth to that than you know. A few years ago, the mayor did call in the army to help there with the snow. A huge helpless without government lefty city.
Sorry to see you southern guys getting what we're used to; our temps in this area will hit everywhere from -40 to 100 in an average year. Monday morning it was -40 here and by tues noon it was almost +40.

Tell me about it. The BFG mud/terrains that came with my 4x4 are the most useless tires I've ever had this time of year.

Here's the view out the front door this morning. Last night they said 1-2" of snow overnight, but as usual they were a bit off. It's more like 4-5". I'd really like to tinker on my truck a bit one of these days...
