Wig shopping

Post by Mancar1 »

This is sure something new for us. We are on the search for a wig for Vicki. She is rapidly losing her hair due to the chemo. At least our insurance will help cover the cost so we are fortunate in that respect. She already has a few hats. She is doing ok. At least the chemo is not making her sick. She gets a headache now and then and is achey, and tires easily. All and all life is good, and we both are enjoying every day together, and with family and friends. Thanks to all for responding to my previous posts with your prayers and support.

I have a funny story relayed from my best friend about his mother's bout with cancer.

While she was going through chemo, she was continuing her Weight Watcher's meetings. She was in a big hurry getting out the door and totally forgot about her wig or hat. She gets to the meeting and gets on the scale, sans hair. All of her fellow Weight Watchers looked on in shock, then she realized what they were looking at. She calmly says, "I just wanted to have a good weigh in today!!"

I relayed this in hopes that it will be received as humorous, and not meant in any way as disrespectful or crass. I truly believe that laughter is the best medicine.

John,

First of all Thank You for updating us all.

Second, it warms my Heart how you and your Lovely Bride are dealing with Her illness.

Best of all, I'm Happy to hear that Vicki is NOT suffering in a major way with her chemo therapy.

Godspeed to Both of YOU!!!

Thank you all for the response. indytexan929 The story was fine. It gave us both a chuckle. Vicki had her head shaved today. In a salon in front of several people. She is a very brave person. Everyone there was very supportive of her.
Thanks again all.

John,

I am sorry that Vicki is losing her hair. i know you know this already but be strong for her and stay positive for her. research has proven that when patients are surrounded by positve intergetic people the recovery process goes alot faster and better
