Salvation Army Auto Sales 1967 F100 Custom Cab $5300

Post by FordRocket72 »

The local Salvation Army has been trying to sell this truck since January 27th. They first wanted $5800 and has been steadily lowering the price. They normally do this until it sells. I went today and took some pictures, the auto sales department was closed and when I tried to pop open the hood one of the store employees said, "NOOO!! NOO!!! You can do that, people try and steal parts!" I don't know what is under the hood. The body is straight and clean, seats are perfect. What do you guys think?

It isn't a bad looking truck, Decent short beds are hard to find, but 5300 sounds kinda high to me, I guess it depends a bit on the engine.

Also, do they put drip pans under everything or just it? Hard to tell how much dripping is in the drip pan, but that doesn't bode well.

Maybe $2500 around here. It does look good.

Its definitely leaking fluids for sure. They will keep lowing the price until it sells. My buddy (the dude in the picture) figures the magic number is going to be around $2000-$3000, maybe even less, who knows. I know the sales manager there and will find out when it sells how much it went for.

Money comes and goes, a truck like this doesn't. You can always fix it up little by little.

Depends on what you want in a truck! Looks pretty nice from the pics. Doesn't appear to need paint, chrome, etc. and the interior looks pretty good, also. PLUS it's a shortbed. Pics and description of the engine would be helpful, but the price doesn't seem that extreme to me. I paid more than most would probably have for mine, but I don't have to do anything to it, it's a short bed red-on-red Ranger, which I desperately wanted, so it's really about what you want. You only live once, after all, so you might as well get what you want, if you can... :D

Anyone see there is no dash pad?
Will be interesting to see what it sells for but I would guess around 2,500. :2cents:

It's a nice looking truck. It does seem pretty funny that they would let you sit in it but wouldn't let you open the hood. I like the look without the dashpad too, but I'm glad mine has a good dash!

She was way over on the side collecting donations, she couldn't see us all up in the cab. It was only when I went over and popped the hood that she gave me a good hollering. I felt guilt but I gave her a bad time about it, there's not much good parts you can get in there without a socket wrench. Imma head over today and see if I can get some pictures of the engine since the sales manager would be there.

Do they expect to sell it without letting someone look under the hood? Also, if they were really concerned about people trying to steal parts, what are they doing to keep that from happening at night time? I understand that parts get stolen, and that sucks. But a guy with no tools isn't going to be able to steal things in broad daylight.

If it came down to $4,000 I'd probably buy it. Up here in the Rust Belt a truck like that would be really sweet. Even if it's only a shortbed.

EDIT: It's a '67, I wouldn't buy it because of the CURSE!
