UNFORTUNATE UPDATE-MY BROTHER PASSED AWAY MARCH 5TH

Post by lrjetmech »

Sadly, my youngest brother, Brian, 41, passed away Saturday morning, March 5th, due to complications from Melanoma cancer. Still trying to come to grips with it all-he was a cool guy, funny, great father and brother, and a Marine, like myself, as well as an IT Specialist with the FBI for the last 5 years. He will be missed severely. I rented a Mercury Grand Marquis here in Little Rock and drove 2 and a half hours to the Memphis area to my mom's and met up there with my other younger brother and sister. We then drove 12 and a half hours to West Virginia. His funeral was on Wednesday, March 9th, with military honors, including a 21-gun salute and Taps. 2 Marines were there to fold the flag and do the honors. On Thursday, we drove 9 hours to Canton, GA, and he was buried in the Georgia National Cemetary on Friday, with military honors. I have never been to a funeral where so many people who were not family were so devestated by someone's passing-that is a tribute, and a legacy, to the person he was. Everyone who knew him wanted to be around him, and be friends with him-he always had a joke or funny story, loved sports, and you always felt better after you were around him. SEMPER FI, little brother...you stand guard up there, I will hold the fort down here until my time comes...

My original post about him is here: http://www.fordification.com/forum/view ... =2&t=56311

His obituary:

Brian O’Neal Perry, 41 of Mount Clare passed away Saturday, March 5th 2011 at home with family by his side. He was born May 8th, 1969, in West Memphis, AR, son of the late Robert Day Perry and Alice Annette Ballard Perry, Memphis, TN. Brian was an I.T. specialist with the Federal Bureau of Investigations based in Clarksburg, WV but traveled to many places with his job. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Jennifer Iris Sutton Perry, whom he married on May 6th 1989, two sons, Jason Alex Day Perry and Jackson Patton Perry, both at home; two brothers, Robert Perry and wife Jennifer, Little Rock, AR, and David Perry, Columbus, MS; one sister, Candace Sanders and husband Chris, Mobil, AL; two aunts, Frankie Lovett of Chicago Il and Mildred Sondermann, Memphis TN, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Tim and Genelle Peterson, Talihina, OK; brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws; Sean E Sutton, Shreveport, LA, Jonathan E Byeseda and Natalie, Fort Riley, KS, Lindsay E. Norton and Jacob, Savannah, GA, and Casey M. Byeseda, Savannah, GA; several nieces and nephews and his dog “Emma”. Brian graduated from Tupelo High School in Mississippi and was a graduate of Kennesaw State University. He was working toward his Masters Degree from Stevenson University. Brian was a United States Marine and served in Desert Storm. He was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church of Clarksburg. Brian loved football, especially the Arkansas Razorbacks, and was an avid sports fan. He loved his job, and was a wonderful husband and father who will be deeply missed. Friends and family will be received at Davis Funeral Home, One Olen Thomas Dr./Rt.98 Clarksburg, Tuesday, March 8, 2011 from 3-9 pm and Wednesday March 9th, 2011from 8:00 am until time of the service at 1:00 pm with the Reverend Joseph D. Riggs officiating. Full military rites will be conducted by the Harrison County Honor Guard. A Graveside Service will be held Friday, March 11th, 2011 at 1:00 pm at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA, with Pastor Scott Kay officiating where interment will follow.

Robert,

I also send my condolences to you and your family. I had the honor to wear my uniform for the first time in some 25+ years a few years back at my close friend's military funeral at Bushnell National Cemetery in Florida. A national cemetery is such a humble and honorable place for anyone to be laid to rest. Your family should be honored and very proud of your brother.
From the 3rd generation veteran...again, I thank you and your family for his service so that I may sit here as a free man.
