I am still here! Pictures and new Projects, PICS ADDED!

Post by FoMoCo »

Hey all,
I've been absent for awhile here. About 3 years ago I traded my 67 in at a local ford dealer for a completly stripped down 2006 f250 with only 3000 miles. I kept my 69 and a most of you helped me convert it from a 360 w/ 3.03 to a 300 inline EFI with a 4 speed TOD. I've put about 80,000 miles on this engine that previously had 300,000 miles, heck only paid $100 for it. It's nice comuting back and forth to work cruiseing at 75-80 mph and still getting 20 mpg'.
About a year ago I sold the 2006 f-250 with only 13,000 mile it for a good profit and bought an Excursion eddie baurer v-10 4x4 monster. This truck is by far the best favorite ford i've ever owened. We picked it up in southern florida and had it delivered to cincinnati. This excursion only had 70,000 miles and I was blown away by the condition. Everything underneath was still dark black and the rest looked as it would have new. We loved the f250, it pulled the camper like a mule but nothing compared to the V-10 and all the bells and whistles, plus the extra seating for 6 more people.
Since i was on a car buying and selling binge i figured I would sell my 2004 mustang anniversay gt. I had it since new and only managed to rack up 13,000 miles in 7 years. I case your're missing the trend, i drive my 69 f100 4:1 compared to my other cars. After selling it, I made my biggest car purchase ever. My wife and I bought a Mercedes turbo diesel e-class. I could go on for days about this but I'll sum it up by stating 380 pound feet torque and still gets 40 mph. This is my first non ford vehicle.
Shortly after that, my wife decided her recently paid off low mileage fusion with every option wasn't good enough anymore. I really really really hated seeing that car go but it's her decision. We did not put one dime into this car and it performed awsome. She bought a 4 door wrangler that is unbeleavibly awsome, but you must really love jeeps to drive one every day. It's got a good ride and a ton of room up front but the 3.8 is incredibly lame on power.
Back to the old trucks. Yep we picked up a 72 4x4 lwb 360/c6. The engine was running but knocking hard and the body was toast. However, the frame was never cut or welded. We had Lindale auto parts remove and scrap the body, and drop the frame off at my shop. As of today we're doing a slight overhaul on a junk yard 360 to replace the mystry FE with no casting numbers. I'm leaning towards this 72 4x4 having components from a 73. Disk brakes, and a really funky front draglink setup. I will shot some pics once the sun comes out. We plan to take our 69's body and place it on the 72's 4x4 setup. The 300 EFI will be for sale soon, along with every thing for a conversion. Be back in a few with tons of pics.

About the only comment I have is. Where do you find the time to keep up with all the toys :? 8)

You cannot find that engine mount because that is a '64 or earlier block. Someone has fabbed up some custom plates to put the engine in there at some point. There should be two more mounting bosses towards the front of the engine block, which the bumps use to mount an FE under the hood.

I had to do the same thing with my truck.

Those cylinder heads are a very good head to have. C6AE-R heads only need larger valves to be a very good stock hi-po head, as they are extremely close to the 428 CobraJet heads, and if you decide not to use them they can be sold for a pretty penny over standard emissions-era heads commony found on these trucks.

Check under the front drivers side of the engine, there should be a small pad with the date code cast in (right below the oil filter adapter mount point). I'm betting that's not a 360. ;)

the 2 foot long wire is the reverse light wiring pigtail. it goes from the switch on the transmission to the plug on the drivers inner fender.

Unfortunantly for the mystry engine and it's c6ae heads the previous owner out way too much cam and valve spring on the heads. A couple valves let go and worn a hole in the top of the pistons and popped a hole in the water jacket of head. The block is salvagable but the passenger head is done.
