Fel pro gasket kits

Post by 71fordkid »

So im rebuilding a 302 for my truck. I got one of the felpro "complete" gasket kits, assuming that it came with EVERY gasket for the motor. Guess I should have done more research...

So far, Ive driven back to the parts store for a timing set/water pump gasket, oil pan, oil pump to block, and rear main seal. :hw:

The guys at the parts store are starting to think i like being there....

Thats crappy. When I rebuilt my 390 I ordered a rebuild kit and the gasket kit that came with it had everything.

they call several gasket kits complete kits. there is the head gasket kit that is a complete head gasket kit. there is a master kit. those i think include the pistons in it. fo rabou t500.00 or more. there is a complete timing kit. you name it. they probably try to confuse the facts so they can see more kits for more money than a rebuid kit. but rebuil dkits come with the crank bearings too. most of the time. its all in the packaging. usually you can read the back of the box to see what is and isnt in the box.

I think you have to watch the wording of the kit. For example, I think you'll find that what you were expecting comes in a "Rebuild Kit". Ask them to show you the computer screen and look at all the listings for gaskets for your engine and get the most expensive one
