Time to redo Dad's ole trailer.

Post by Mancar1 »

Dad used this tilt trailer for his handyman/mowing service for years. I have used it for the past 15 years. Time to tear it apart and redo it. Mod a few things. Place the axle back a few inches, sways a tad over 55. Yes I know that is the trailer towing speed limit around these parts. :lol. New wiring, plywood ect. Clean up and kill rust, and paint before it goes back together. Thought I would get a pic or two before I got it all tore apart. Having fun. Glad I have a welder now. Going to add some upright stantions. Just having fun
Sure would like to be able to take Dad fishing again. Been gone over three years, and I haven't been fishing since he passed.

Your father would be proud
My dad has been gone 5 years in July. I still miss him. But life must go on.

painting the wood with used motor oil is excellent for repelling water.

i just did 1 coat of oil on my new trailer with new plywood. after about a week it soaked in to the point there was no residue on the wood.. then the first time it rained i could watch all the water just bounce and bead off.

i don't even need to mention the price of this method lol

The used oil trick is what my dad always did. I have used that method myself. Thanks for the reminder.

i have been home making some car dolly fenders myself. i am almost done with them. i just need a way to attach the wiring so it doesnt get caught up in the wheels. for homemade it is turning out pretty good. i wish i could have spent money and done it up right. it would have been faster.

I hear that fordman. Sometimes we have to make do with what we have.

Didn't look to bad after decades under the plywood. Now if I can just get QA to sign off on it.
