here is what i have been doing the past two weeks in the afternoons. i have been home making some fenders to replace the plastic fenders on my dads car dolly.
parts list.
ford van stainless spare tire carrier cover ring
a large piece of 1/8 aluminum plate.
steel rivets
i bent and cut the backing plates and tail light housing myself. this was my first attempt at doing something like this.
now i need suggestions on how to tie the wires up to the backing plates so they don't get damaged from loading and unloading cars. zip ties wont do the job and protect the wires enough. i really don't want to cut the plugs off the wire. so i will have to use some sort of troff. or half round pipe. or something to lay the wires into i am thinking. thats how the old palstic fender were.
On custom Harley fenders sometimes people fasten (braze) steel fuel line on the inside of the fender to house the wires and protect them from the tire. The steel line can be formed to mimic the contour of the fender for aesthetic purposes. In your case, instead of brazing you can just use brackets like these to fasten the steel line to the fender......you may have to cut the plugs off and re-solder them

i like that !that's a nice clean way of doing it .
it wouldn't look anywhere near as clean,but you could also use a piece of heater hose split down the middle so you could pop it over your existing wiring and some conduit clamps like that look alot like the ones bobbyford showed to hold them to the fender
