no one seems to know why

ok im new here im 20 so im still learningalot but i just got new points and rebuilt my distributer and i set the points bet evrey time i go somewere i have to reset the points becouse they move on me can anyone tell my why or what can i do to get this to stop?

First off. What exactly do you mean by "rebuilt" the distributor? What all did you do to it?

They move because you didn't tighten the screw enough. Use a new good screwdriver, actually two of them. One goes bwtween the adjusted to hold the gap and the other tightens the screw...

ok i put in a new plate and new screws and i thtend them all the way and they still move i even have locking washers on then

The plate itself may be loose (rebuilt or not).

Check the bushings in the distributor. If you can wiggle the shaft then you need to replace or to build the unit.

how much would it cost to buy or build anotherone i have an extra 352 in my garuage that i tore down and the distributer from that is in good shape but needs new parts

distributors are only about 35.00 aren't they ?

I replaced my dist. for less than $60 at the local autozone-out...you know, the place where they have to have a computer to find a part.
