It doesn't really matter but working on the Volvo (again).
Need the intake off to get to the PCV/oil separator (don't even get me started on this)

"undo manifold bottom mounting"
Oh really, the one that they have a nice clear picture of but you can't even see with it on the car? I flatly refuse to believe the engine was in the car when they took the picture!!!
Ya know, Im betting the engine was in the car but the camera was shoved where no part of your anatomy can ever hope to fit (or a tool for that matter). Ive seen that before.

It's alldata, just an online version of Hayne's. I've seen some of the repair notes at a friends shop. He told the salesman to stop coming by if they were just pawning junk.
I know the feeling. My wifes Pontiac is the same way. There are things shown in the repair manual that are impossible to do without taking a dozen other parts off first just to see what the book shows. That's why I don't even change the oil in it. I refuse to work on it anymore. I told her if she passes before me, it will be in the front yard with a For Sale sign in it before she gets cold.
Good luck. Only work I ever did on a Volvo was help a buddy replace his heater core so I don't have any advice for ya there . I will say that working on new cars is a pain in the neck, I'd hate to mess with that Volvo of yours after some of the repairs I've made on my Z71. You'd think an early 90's domestic vehicle would still be simple to work on.....wrong . Just be happy you're not changing plugs/wires in a Fiero, heard that's a 4-5 hour job .
