69 owners, where do we find new grills?

Post by rltvader »

ok, so I took off my front grill today from my 1969 shortbed to put on my 69 longbed. I am going to completely restore the shortbed later and would like to know any place that sells new 1968-69 grills.
I know they are completely unavailaible from LMC and no junkyards around me have good ones.
Can anyone help me/us?
Thanks

1967-69 grilles are not reproduced, The dies were in a warehouse fire and destroyed. Post in the parts wanted section if your looking to buy a grille, A member might have one to sell.

I just saw one on San Antonio Craigslist today. It is a '68 or '68 (I don't remember). The one with a red stripe in the middle. It looks a little bent in the photo but might be useable for someone.

I have one in my garage that I was going to put on my truck but have since changed plans. It is in very good condition with only one minor, very small dent if I remember correctly. You can see some pictures of it here: http://s253.photobucket.com/albums/hh67 ... %20grille/

I am not completely sure I want to let it go as they are hard to come by, but I probably would sell it to a fellow member that really needs it. I am just not really keen on shipping it anywhere as it is large and bulky, and I wouldnt trust that it would arrive in as good condition as it left.

Where are you located? I might be willing to sell if we can make it work.

The '69 grille had the red stripe.

I have'nt been on here in awhile. Although I frequent this site as well as others. I'm always researching parts. This topic is right up my alley. I sell my grilles on ebay. Keeping things simple so as no one thinks I favor on site or the other. I sell on nutral ground. I've been doing this for the past 4years specializing in grilles. I'm not here to solicit buyers, I'm merely stating that grilles are being reconditioned to look better than new. You just need to look for them.

I have two grills from a '69. The original and one I bought off ebay. I promise you, the one I bought on ebay looked much better in the pictures than in person. I called Advanced Plating in Nashville recently and talked to them about chroming mine. They said they would look at it and detirmine how much it would cost to get all the scratches and dings out of it and call me before they did any work. Unless I can find a place here in the DFW area I think I'll send them one and see what they have to say.

Thank you, something I enjoy doing. I think the 69 Ranger is the most grattifying when finished. However 67 & 68 come out very nice as well. I'm doing a 1970 right now. All original I think this one is going to be sweet.

rltvader,

Hello, I've got a '69 original grille in very good condition. The red is a bit faded on the passenger side. but the rest is near perfect. PM with an e-mail address. I'll be happy to send pics.
