F150 question?

Post by hotrod ford »

My brake pedal/master cylinder on my 05 F150 has bee making a sound when it is pressed. It is like a dull squeaking noise. I have looked on line and in my hanes book but can't find any symptoms like this. I hope my master cylinder is not going bad.

Did you check everthing for tightness? Could it be your brakes themselfs making the noise. It is common from disc. brakes.
May your sails stay full, and your knots not slip. Unless a slip knot.

Nope, not the brakes. When the truck is parked and off in the driveway I press the brakes and hear it. Just a bit ago I had my wife press them while the hood was up and it really sounds like it is coming from the master cylinder. Could it be the rod from the pedal going into the m/c? Could it need to be greased or lubed up of some sort?

If you have good brakes and no leaks your MC is probably ok. I would spray a little lube up in there on the rod and see if it stops. Also, sometimes your pedel mecanisim can be squeeking.

Do you have power brakes? If so the noise may actually be the booster operating on residual vacum.

Today I had a sign that somthing may be wrong with the brakes. Coming to a stop and kinda had to pump the brake pedal to get pressure. It was not a lot but it was enough to bring up a red flag. There is plenty of fluid and there are no leaks anywhere.

Any lights showing on the dash? I would think an 05 would have a warning light for a brake problem. Sure cannot say that as a fact though as I have never sat down in one. lol
If it is a real squeak I would do some lubricating like stated.
