Rant! UPS and Paypal

Post by basketcase0302 »

So I get a prompt that my UPS and Paypal information doesn't match...
I go into both accounts and yes all the information is correct and the same as they require.
So I get to a complete dead end in an attempt to email paypal, (some kind of stupid server error again and again).
And finally UPS informs me they have closed my account...
1) Without my consent!
2) while still having the ability to bill me-if it were a billing issue?
3) Without notifying me!

Naw...I'm done with the "big brown truck"! :nono:
Sad to say, they just lost over $100.00 in shipping I needed to do in the next week or so for Christmas.

Ebay and PayPal helped a "Power Seller" steal $300.00 form a friend of mine. As far as I'm concerned you should consider your self lucky if they didn't clean your account out.

I get stuff that looks like its been run over by a truck from UPS all the time, I once got a (irreplaceable) muffler that had obviously actually been run over by a truck (it had tire tracks on it) and they said it wasn't packed correctly (like 2" of air space would have saved it).

Do yourself a favor, get a FedEx account, take USPS (Only) Money Orders and you'll be much happier.

Oh, and USPS priority mail is pretty easy to use too and is cheaper and faster on small stuff.

I use FedEx almost exclusively now. UPS was getting too expensive. Though I enjoy the convience of Paypal I try to stay away from it for anything over $100 (They will actively and un-apologetically help buyers on Ebay steal from you). If a buyer on Ebay trys to shake me down I usually just pay them off. It's a lot easier.

I guess I got off topic on a rant, replying to your rant.

Yep, UPS is a joke. They find ways to take 9 days or so to do what USPS or FEDEX do in 2 days and charge more for it.

I use the post office for most shipping, even pretty big stuff and find it's the most reliable and affordable way to ship.

I really get a kick out of it when I beat a UPS shipping wuote with an LTL truck price door to door.

Use caution with the brown clowns.

A number of years ago...I had paypal themselves steal from me. Almost a grand. It just vanished. It was there and then it was not, with no record of where it went. Seems simple right, just a mistake on their part? Well, they are nearly impossible to get in touch with and when you do, they are impossible to deal with. Months went by with me making no headway. I got my money back. I pretty much had to steal it back (cuz I'm smart like that). But that was it for paypal and me.

Here is how the scheme works: You sell an item. The buyer pays through paypal. The buyer receives the item and then states it is not as described. Paypal retracts the money from your account (even if you have transfered it to your bank account) until the """""investigation""""" is over. Eventually they side with the buyer. Buyer keeps your money and pinky swears to send the item back. You never see the item back and they keep your money.

This isn't a one time rant, if you do some searching this is becoming a common practice.

Paypal is a large part why I don't sell on eBay anymore...
