2wd, 250, with gas, oil, water and you sitting in it...probably a little shy of 5000 lbs.

Those numbers make me wonder...When you guys with an F250 4X4 go over the scale at the dump, what does it read? With the bed empty (aside from an aluminum toolbox), my orange 71 is almost exactly one ton heavier than the advertised curb weight.
I run about 250 lbs, the tool box is probably 200, the winch and front bumper is 200, figure 120 pounds of fuel 10 pounds of oil and 30 of water.
That should put my truck at 5,070 lbs. I have some lighter engine parts, so knock off around 70 lbs there. My tires are bigger and heavier, so it "should" come in around 5,100 if we base it at advertised curb weight. It's more like 6200. It's up or down 20 lbs from this from scale to scale. So do I have a mystery 1000 pounds on mine or do you guys come in around the same weight as me?

'70 sport custom long box. 302/3 spd manual column shift. No accessories. 265/75-15 tires on steel wheels. 4140 lbs. I make regular dump runs and the scales always read the same.

So you're about a 1000 pounds over your dry weight correct?

Where are the advertised vehicle weight ratings? I guess I will run the scales also.

I find that amazing how light these trucks were compared to today's. My f100 is lighter than my 63 Chevy impala. So this lead to my next question what would the tow ratings be for these bumps of different sizes

I weighed my short bed before I put the 460 in it.
360, C6, A/C, P/S, P/B, full tank of gas, me in the cab = 4,100 lbs.

My crew comes in under 5700 with me in it, so it's about 5500 or a little less.

The chart says a 67 F250 2X2 styleside weighs in at 3815 lbs. Hmm...mine weighed 5250 last time I parked on the scales empty. Take me out of the cab and that would be 5000 lbs. I carry some ballast in the bed but not that much...wonder what my 16-inch steel belted radials weigh? Lots more than stock tires, but...??

Keep in mind that for that '67 chart, they're basing the weight on a standard truck with standard equipment. Therefore, the trucks would've been weighed with a 240 and a manual 3-speed, and wouldn't have included P/S, P/B, A/C, radio, exterior trim, hubcaps, etc, and would have bias-ply tires. And since the trucks were typically delivered without a rear bumper or a spare tire, those probably weren't included as well. That stuff adds up pretty quickly.

Good point. All makes sense
