Wow, that's a tough one. My immediate response is "No way". But then again, that's not very smart is it? I could sell that 2012 for $15K, buy a new bump in better condition than mine, pocket the rest and have money to spend on the new one. Kinda depends on what condition I have mine in at that particular point in time. A year ago I might have. Now, it's in pieces, but still probably. In a another year or so, when I'm done..NO WAY! It'll be worth more to me than a new truck. May not be valued as much, just worth more TO ME.

provided i had the option (unrestricted) to sell it, in a heartbeat. Given 10-12k, i could build a real nice bump.

Well, any of them aside from my 71. I would not even need a second to think about it, no. Not that anyone would actually do that or give me that choice, but, I can promise the answer would be no.

I agree 100%, I bought my first Highboy in 1972 at 20 years old, kept it for 14 years and in a brain dead moment I sold it, regretted it right away but it took me 25 more years fix the problem. I found the perfect truck for restoration in Albuquerque NM, bought it from the original owner, had it shipped to North Carolina. I have been restoring it for over 1 1/2 years and it is almost finished, it will be just as good as the day it was built, it has been gone thru from bumper to bumper. If I wanted a new truck I would go buy one, wait a minute I just did last year. My 72 has been rebuild with Love, Sweat, Tears and more cash than I care to remember. It's not for sale at any price, I hope my grandson loves it as much as I do, it will be his someday.

Anybody can have a "New Truck", Very few can have a "New Bumpside Highboy"

The truck in my Avatar is my first Highboy from 72, The restored one will be a clone in apperance

My truck is worth about 600 bucks. My dog is worth about 10 bucks, neither will be traded for something worth more.

Me either, but one. I mean, I was brought home from the hospital in it. First thing I ever drove...the list goes on for days. Can't get rid of that.

I'm with Woods

You cannot just go out and buy the best damn truck you ever owned.

There's a bond developed with a great old truck that a new plastic sh!tbox with cupholders and heated seats can't duplicate.

Sometimes it's nice to drive a new rig with all the comforts. But the monthly payments suck and by the time it's paid for it's falling apart and worth about the same as the good old truck is.

For a long time I was going to do a 100% body/frame resto on my '70 including replacing the roof and using NOS front sheetmetal then a light bulb went off in my head- I realized I knew every inch of that truck and loved it exactly like it is. From the 47 antenna/light holes in the roof to the 3/8" bolt brazed into the back wall of the cab to fill a 30-30 hole or the 3 different sets of gun rack holes drilled in the cab or the MICO lock instructions and Willock articulating frame decals still inside the glovebox door. None of those things are bad nor should they be completely removed from the truck. They tell it's story from the beginning. Why cover it up and make it just any old nice truck.

The answer is a resounding NO as for trading or selling it at any cost.

However, someday when my health starts going and I can't drive it any more I hope a naive 19 year old will hassle me to buy it and I'll sell it for the same $400 I paid for it.
