Pricing the 67-72 F100 Trucks

Post by davbell22602 »

How do price the value on these trucks?

Here's why I'm I was offered a 72 F100 with no motor and no trany. The guy said it had 302 and C4 trany. He said it had rust on it. He said the a bed needs repair but he had replacement panel. He wanted $800 for it. He said the bed was worth $500 and the cab was worth $300. Sorry for no pics of this but I thought this guy was out of mind for a truck with no engine and trany.

Could be different where your at, but I see bumps all the time around here with a running 390 or 360 for a grand or under.

Thats about what there going for here too. I was just double checking. That wanted $800 for one that no engine and transmission in it or none with it.

Unless it's nice (and it doesn't sound like it is) it's a couple hundred bucks.

He thinks the motor was changed and setup for a 302. he thinks it had inline 6 in it. I found a 67 for $500 that been sitting 2 hours south of me.

Based on your description, $400 at the most if the interior is not bad.

In my part of the world (AZ) Anything that runs and drives and stops is worth atleast $1000. Take off a hundred or two for any major compenents missing or non-op. I picked up my 72 for $300 and it was in great shape with no rust at all, just had a siezed engine.

I love buying stuff out of AZ. No rust (if it spent most of it's life there anyway).

Thats one of the only perks to living in AZ lol. 130ish degrees in the summer, 40 mph winds in the winter. We are less prone to rust thats for sure, but blown head gaskets from overheating and blown water pumps from the terrible water are much more common.

And maybe no paint because it baked off, but that is known as an Arizona Vehicle Sun Tan!

Don't need paint, it won't rust.

I just bought a 72 F250 Highboy and paid $600 for it. It was not running, but I had it running that afternoon(new gas and fluids).
One thing to keep in mind is the price of scrap. At $250-300 a ton, an old Ford truck can be worth over $600 in scrap value if complete, running or not, rusty or not.
A running car of any kind for under $500 is getting harder to find due to scrap prices, scrappers watch Craigslist and will buy anything they think they can profit off of.
