Somebody please stop me...

Post by PhantomoftheBumpside »

I have been having problems recently...

I really don't know how to say it other than I think I may finally be completely crazy.

I've got this pounding in the back of my brain...

Something just keeps telling me to do it...

Over and over I keep telling myself it's not going to happen...

but it may be inevitable.

I may just have to pull the trigger...

and build a mini-Bump.

Good day Rob,

I can sympathize with this feeling, because as you know, I've felt strange urges to build an extremely short Bump before! Like just slightly longer than a cab on wheels!

What's your vision of the mini-Bump?

Rangersized or Model-Asized?

There was a Model Asized truck wth bump lines built fenderless a couple years ago that looked really good.

Yes, and I'm blaming you for planting the seed too... :nono:

Smaller and more useful (With a bed)

Most of what's left of a bump on a "ford/mazda" frame.

Yes... Ranger they just killed - sized.. umm.... maybe if a Courier fell in my lap.. or I have to go 4 lug Toyota Tercel... but that's even crazier.

Not sure what you're saying with that last sentence... that was a little confusing for me, maybe a picture would help...

----

Actually, After Robroy started talking building the lowered bedless cab I started itching... and I do have a kind of soft spot for minis... and then I remembered this old '55 Cameo I saw years ago that was reduced in size... and was like, why would a guy chop up a perfectly good icon of a truck? And I've been working out how I am going to go about building a 67 Merc on a 97 Merc frame... all of those things (along with Ford dropping the Ranger) are kind of pushing me toward building a mini-bump, or even a mini-crew-bump.

I can see I won't get any help killing off that urge around here!

Is that a Dent? If that was me, I'd probably go with an Edsel grille and lights and call it Dent-sel...

Rob, have you considered medication? :D I will say, I have a 98 Ranger and it has been one of the best vehicles I have owned, and I have owned lots. So you are going to chop down a bump until it fit on a Ranger frame? BTW, my 98 Ranger rides worse than my 72 F-250, which makes no sense at all.

Hah! Too funny! I was just wondering this week what it would take to make a bumpside version of an Expedition. I think the biggest problem would be the rear passenger doors, and the rear hatch. Haven't quite figured out those yet ...

So, no, if I'm trying to come up with an SUV bump, you can come up with a mini-bump!

You are aware that Many an airport as late as april 14th of 2004 still had and may still have and use bumps and dents just 2-3 feet longer than cab and wheels for taxiing planes?
