Cleaned up my intake, what do you think?

I just got a used Edelbrock intake today and cleaned it up.

This is after half an hour or so scrubbing it off in the parts washer.




This is after beadblasting it in the cabinet. I taped off all the mounting flanges as I didn't want to disturb the factory mating surfaces.



This is next to brand new intake I purchased last week that I now don't need It's not perfect compared to new, but still looks pretty good I think. And of course the new one would get stained very quickly anyway.

looks great. I know it was a lot of work getting it to look that clean. I done the same thing to my stock intake and it look like new when i was done with it. Not only is your's clean but also about 50lbs or so lighter.

That's impressive--well done!

So are you going to return the new intake now or what?

And have you considered some kind of clear-coat to keep your work looking good a little longer? I'm not sure if an effective product exists, but I'll bet it does.

Before I send the new one back I need to check this one to make sure it isn't warped or out of whack at all.

I thought about clear coating it, but from everything I've read even the high temp clear coats will yellow between the heat and gas and oil on them.

So I might do a high temp silver/aluminum paint with a good quality urethane clear over that, that's supposed to not yellow at all.

I may just see how much powder coating is too.

Here's mine after blasting and 2 coats of rattle can Duplicolor silver engine enamel from the parts store.
