They said it was a short bed when they bought it,but it is a long bed. Guess they don't know as much about trucks as they should. Oh well its another tv show about cars that don't know cars.

Something I like about these cars shows is the bump is becoming popular. They said they sold this LWB for $35K & the SWB on Gas Monkey showed $50K. It is telling the general public our trucks are worth serious money. I love it. True or not on the show it is the image they are presenting.

I honestly don't see these shows doing anything at all for the hobby except putting a false price on the producers vanity.

Dial it back about three notches, get rid of the 'drama' and let the workmanship tell the story, not the commercial break hype and personality disorders of the participants.

Didn't watch, didn't care. Lost all interest after seeing one commercial and knowing the participants from Pawn Stars (which I actually don't mind watching since the items tell the story)

This truck actually looked nice from what little they showed of it.

Looked like a small block, had reasonable wheels and reasonable paint, I personally would have forgone the stake sides...

Gearz has a yellow bump SWB, Counting Cars with their LWB & the Gas Monkey with their SWB. I can not remember anyone doing anything on television with bumps. Chevrolets, yes, mostly because parts are off the shelf for mods. I think the trend may help make the truck a bit more popular. I say a bump is like a Nova. Nice looking when finished but all you ever see on tv & such is Camaros. Powerblock is doing a diesel swap in a dent.

Ok, so what does the TV coverage do positively for the bump hobby? Are we going to see more resto parts? Are we going to get more thumbs up when going down the highway? Are we going to have a better chance to win at local car shows? I doubt it...

All I see the TV show doing is at best whenever someone sees your truck they will compare it to the TV show truck, if anything devalue your in process hard work and effort because 'those guys on TV did it in a week'.

Lets not going into the sudden increase in value of rusty metal because 'them guys on TV sold one just like it with fresh paint for $50k'

Gearz and Powerblock don't count because they aren't mainstream, as heavily advertised, or nearly as dramatic. At least with them you know they are just whoring their sponsors products.

I think what everyone else is pointing out is the exposure to the bumps... When someone is looking to get an old project, they may not think about a bump as a possibility. But now that they saw this truck on a TV show that they thought was "awesome" or "cool", they might start looking at Bumps in a new light and start wanting one. With more exposure to our trucks, it might open the eyes of people who might have been blind to them before, thus increasing the demand for the old trucks, which increases demand for parts, which puts more parts in the market, and increases value, etc, etc, etc... Its a process. The first step is getting people to actually notice and want the trucks, which is what these shows have the ability to do.

Most people are sheep and just follow. This is the reason that Chevy trucks were always in demand.. Just follow what others have done. Now that the Fords are starting to get seen in a better light... Anyway, you get my point.

Not that I want a bunch of brain-dead sheep jumping into our hobby, but it just might open the eyes of some people to what our trucks have to offer.

Watched it today off my DVR. Looked like they only got the cab, body panels, and bed? I didn't see a frame, suspension, or drivetrain. With the shop labor, they could have $35k in building it but didn't seem like a smart business plan to me.

If they put 35k into it then someone needs to be checked out for embezzlement, And the first one to look at is the guy that says stake side are going to cost 2-5k  I like to see shows like this to keep the interest up in these old cars/trucks to keep people wanting them for years to come. I liked the colors on the truck and i thought it looked nice on the outside, The underside of the hood---It didn't look like it had been cleaned or painted. I can only hope that i can one day find a buyer like that so i can sell them something for twice what it's worth :D I would just like to sell them some stake sides at 1/2 price

I don't have cable TV at my house anymore, Turned off the cable because everything on thier was fake it seemed. I enjoyed watching the show but its actors, not gear heads. And Danny needs to just take that towel off his head

I see a few nice bumps tooling around town, and most of the owners I find and talk to love their trucks, but I don't see any 60's pickups getting much attention from the general public, except for maybe some of the flare sides. I see mid to late 60's Fords, Dodges and GM products all around where I live. The 4th and 5th Gen F series tend to have the highest numbers of restored or nice looking ones running around (love to get me a 65 F series someday) followed by the GM products. I don't see anyone restoring the old Dodges. Personally I like the looks of all the 60's pickups, but I'm not sure a lot of folks do. They have age, but they don't have the same "class" as the trucks made in prior decades.

Is it because they look too "modern"? Especially a bump, I tend to see them in my mind as the start of the "modern" pickup design trend, although one could argue that started with the slicksides. Flaresides tend to get attention, perhaps because of the more classic looks to them, or their smaller numbers?

Either way, love me the 60's Ford trucks and right now I'm kinda happy they aren't in huge demand as collector's trucks. It's let me get screaming deals when someone views one of these things as a pile of parts or a barely usable work truck. They may just not be "obsolete" enough to be collector cool, and a muscle car they ain't.
