Website that will give low appraisal of classic truck

Post by booblinker »

I'm in michigan. Picking up a 72 F100 off a buddy, he got it from a guy that died, and never got a title. I know its not real hard to get a title, just need an online appraisal, fill out a form, and take it to SOS. My problem is every place i have found show the value at 7-12k. This thing is a POS, I am only paying $300 for it, but from what I understand they tax on appraisal, not from the price on the bill of sale. i don't mind spending 75-125 on taxes, but the truck ain't worth it for $500 in tax.

What about useing a county tax assessment value ? Im sure the price on that would be low and should be legal. My county don't tax my old stuff anymore because it falls under a tax relief in most cases. Have a 68 mustang they put value on but the other 6 cars sitting are not taxed becaused they are valued below $500.

That Doesn't work in Mi, you need an appraisal if there is no title, and they go by appraisal value, not bill of sale or tax assessment value.

If you want the cheapest one. Take it to a dealership and they will write you an apprasal and it will be real low.

Move to a different state for a year or two?

Every state i have lived in, Oregon,Ok,MO have all gone by county tax assessment. You may see what michigan law says about title companies that gety you a legal title, if they allow them i'd check that out if it's cheaper than the tax from assesment. perhaps talk to the appraiser and explain it as a pos far from daily driver as it sounds like they are reading N.A.D.A.s Mid-High retail value, and they should be reading the car lot trade in for you.

have you tried nada's website? i beleive it's nada.org or maybe it's .com plunk in values reflecting it as daily driver or lower. see what they say.

I don't want to give em a heart-attack. That is what would happen if I answered the door in the buff. Heck it almost scares me to death when I step out of the shower and look in the mirror.~Mancar1~
