Counting Cars

Post by rltvader »

Anyone seen this new show on history? He got the spin off from Pawnstars, like American Restoration.
Did anyone see the Bumpside on it? Really good looking, but I can't seem to find a pick on the interwebs.

Hummm.. I might have to check out that American Restoration.. Never have seen that..
Is that just cars/trucks, or anything in general?
Lately I've been restoring a few Old Coleman lanterns and stoves.. Mainly because I
bought a new lantern and small stove back about 5 years ago, "dual fuel", and I thought
they were kind of cheezy compared to the older stuff.. Had problems with both, and
came to the conclusion that running regular unleaded gas was a mistake for those,
even if a "dual fuel" model. Either that, or get ready to change or clean generators
often, and expect the chemicals in the gas to eat through valve packings, etc..

So I've been collecting a few older lanterns and stoves, and it's kind of addicting
after a while.. You can often find them cheap, and it doesn't really cost all that
much to overhaul them.
To me, the F" model lanterns were the last of the real deal classic lanterns, before
they started getting cheap..
I bought two more lanterns last week, and a nice 413G stove.. The stove is a 1967 model,
and almost mint shape. Got a 1972 228F lantern in mint shape.. And a 1966
220F in good shape.. Not quite mint, but very good.. Just a few chips on the "hat"..
It's a good strong runner..
I've got a 1962 228F that my grandfather bought new, and my dad also used, that
I'm fixing to totally overhaul. It semi works, but the fuel tube is clogged from varnish.
It'll be a runner for another 50 years after I get through with it.

I use these when I go up to my dirt patch in OK.. I'm planning on spending about a
week there around the end of the month.. I've pretty much decided to only use
Coleman fuel, or other white gas camping fuels from now on.. The regular gas
just causes too much generator clogging goo and mess with all the additives.
Will cost me more, but lots less aggravation.

Well American restoration does just about anything from cars and trucks to slot machines, safes, ect ect you name it and rick will restore it. Has anyone seen the f-100 that was done on the Loud-n-proud show that was a sweet truck when it was done. I sent them a email even to see if they would be intrested in my 77 Ranchero GT Brougham as im not gonna have the time or funds to finish it and i could use the money to get me a new air compressor. The motor caught fire on mine and the pump seems like its starting to get weak. I cant even find anyone to trade with me for one. Oh well i figure if i keep at it long enough i will find someone to trade with or sell it to.

I have to say after watching the (counting cars) show with the bumpside truck I am not as impressed with him as i was. If he is that knowledgeable about cars and trucks , he would have known the difference between the "desirable short bed" and the actual long bed that he purchased. :?

I dont even pretend to be as knowledgable as what he portrays, but i can look at one together or in pieces and tell if it is long or short.
And the price tags that they put on the work is ridiculous! I would build stake beds all day at his prices!
The finished truck was very nice though!, but the price tag, WHEW!!
