happy holidays

Post by hedz »

happy holidays folks. i've been on extended vacation and don't plan on stopping any time soon :D . just taking a opportunity to get my internet fix. it's been great getting away from hotlanta ghetto. been to arkansas, nevada, and oregon so far. fed some wild horses, caught several sturgeon although the season is shut down this year, caught some steel head and ate real well, went crabbing and ate real well. went hiking in spirit and pinehard falls and a few other places. got some venison and wild pig. went edible mushroom picking. got some slippery jacks, a few different boletas, and some butter top jacks. scored some mycelium from a species that smells and tastes like liccorice. i can't remember what it's called. transplanted it to try and have some for next year and took a few spore prints for the garden. slept in a teepee for a while. shot at a baby mountain lion attacking a friends goat. i skipped voting this year. bought some badass ammo instead! attending my brothers graduation. going to see the hobbit tonight. then back to the wilderness. hope you guys are enjoying the holidays. i wish you all a merry christmas or solstice, whatever it is you deem necessary to celebrate, and a happy new year to all of you!

P.S. - also worked on a 79 dodge truck with a heavy duty chassis. i know i'm on vacation but i couldn't help myself and went with a friend to take a look at his candidate truck. i know absolutely nothing about mopar. i'm pretty sure it had a 440 or the next largest v8 size? it did not sound good. it was make a aweful noise as though maybe the flywheel was missing many teeth and the starter was damaged but still functioning. the start-up sounded horrendous with a winding sound that starts loud without any clanking sounds, but a horrible wirring sound that would peak and then die off in a fade. during the start the engine sounded as though it was firing all wrong and although some of the cylinders sounded like they were getting spark something was probably wrong with the dizzy install. so i pulled the dizzy for him and cleaned and worked over the distributor with what was available. which so happened to be coconut oil. scrubbed it down and lubed it up with coconut oil chunks. everything was stuck including vaccume advance. poor thing needs a complete rebuild and recurve. i'm fairly certain that the wires were all backwards. anywho they guy wanted 600$ and all i could think was how great a candidate this truck would be with a 12 valve cummins. the darn thing would absolutely need a new steering column and cap and rotor and plugs and wires and probably other igniton stuff. hope the truck finds a home with my buddy. i left it to him as i don't work for free on vacation. another reason why i refused to crawl on my back to even look at the flywheel :D . take care everyone
