Corvette engine building privilege?

Post by rltvader »

So I was looking at the new corvettes and on their website on build your own, they have an option to go to Kentucky and help build the motor that is going to be put into your corvette.
This sounds pretty cool, but the price just to help with your own car? 6,000 dollars.
This seemed really, really expensive to help build your own car, I know it would be cool to know that your own hands were on that corvette motor while being built. Would 6,000 dollars really be worth it?

People who can afford new Corvette's don't need to ask that kind of question.

They did this on "GEARS". They didn't mention how much it was.

It did look like fun, I am not sure it is 6000.00 fun.

Over the years,I've owned two vettes & my youngest son has owned two. The first thing that wears out is the hood hinges. When I first saw this post, I almost threw up. General Motors should be ashamed of building one of the biggest piece of crap ever built in the USA. A definite second biggest piece of crap was also built by GM, the VEGA. This is one man's opinion & I stick by it.

I guess the hinges wear out because you have to raise the hood to work on it all the time. :P

Just what I was thinking!! Generic Motors/Government Motors blehhh! Several years ago when I was one of the very first members of the "censoring site list serve F T E group" my sig line had the phrase
"NUKE GM!" I suppose it is no longer acceptable to use such language without the Feds coming into my home and giving me the 3rd degree about a possible threat against this corporation..... I just really have strong family ties to FoMoCo products my whole life and prefer them over The CIC's government funded automotive company.....and Ford did not take bailout money  Should have let GM go tthe way of AMC. Not trying to start anything just agreeing with others thoughts about Generic Motors.

It is a cool idea GM has - I suppose if I had the means to do such a fun thing with a 2013 Shelby Cobra engine, I would jump on it but, being a life long educator and taking a vow of poverty to be in education......it can only be a dream.

The $6000.00 is probably to cover the warranty issues...

I mean can you imagine trying to get some of the general public to follow instructions...
