Need help with value

Post by Damon23 »

We are going to try to refi the house and part of the application is to list assets. I feel that our two old vehicles are assets cause they have already depreciated and are on their way up. The VW bus really has no significant value because it is a project. The truck on the other hand I feel has value. I was going to go with NADA but I know that usually is off up and down. So, maybe you all can give me your opinion on what to value it at. Here are the specs:

1968 Custom Cab
300 6 with four in the floor and a granny gear
Power drum brakes
Solid truck some imperfections in paint but that is it
Runs and drives just fine
No other options basic truck
2 wheel drive

I went into this purchase blind. I felt the $3600 price was good for any old truck not rusted out and that you can drive anywhere in so I paid it. Don't really know if I got a deal or not but it would be nice to know and be able to list a proper value on the app. Thanks for your help.

Looks good. Value is about what you paid for it. Remember that is just my opinion.

I'm certainly not an expert but I'd say you got a deal. In my opinion it's worth more than you paid. You can't find a truck even close to that quality for $3600, at least not where I am. I looked for 3 months and ended up with a 71 that's not near as rust free as yours and I paid $4000.

That truck looks great. Better than mine really and I paid $6000 for it. Value depends where you are living too. Here in Hampton Roads I've noticed cars and generally everything is more expensive though. In the country things tend to be a tad bit cheaper. I try to buy everything in more rural areas not far away to save money. I'm confident I could get $8000 for mine now in Hampton roads but I've seen many trucks in nicer shape for $5000 in surrounding areas. I'd atleast say its work 6K just my :2cents:
1972 F100 Sport Custom-2WD, Aqua Blue and Wimbleton White, LWB, 302 V8 and C4 trans, P/S, P/B - under construction

Gone but not forgotten: 1968 F100 Ranger- 2WD, LWB, original rebuilt 360 V8, Autolite 2bbl carb, C6 Trans, Hedman Headers, Powermaster Racing Starter, H-Pipe and Glasspacks, P/S, P/B, A/C

Thanks for your replies. I listed it at 5k. I've searched Craigslist in the south and from what I see I cannot find a comparable one. I found a lwb ranger that was nice at 7200 but mine is not that. My father in law told me to send it to Tucson when I get ready to sell cause he would buy it. I don't know what I want to do with it in the long run. Kind of just want to enjoy it and see where it goes from there.

I would say somewhere around 5-6k.
When I transferred my 69 F350 into my name and the bill of sale I got said "sold for $500.00".
The girl behind the counter said that the truck had to be worth more than that, so she called HQ down in Olympia Wa. and was told that a 1969 F350 fitted with flatbed/dump as new, was worth something like $8500.00! I about fell over. it would take me $10,00.00 to get it worth that much.

You might want to call your local DOL and ask them what the value of the truck is worth.

Here in GA the registration said $250 lol. Which is standard for old cars. They don't care about the old stuff here , he'll they don't even title them.

I grew up in Seattle and they are way strict up there but since you have no state income tax they rely on property and vehicle tax. To register this truck for the year was $20 and that included changing the ownership and a new plate and sticker. I sure wish I had access to the trucks up there though. I wanted a 73-79 highboy but the pickings are slim here.
