Just about have everything

Post by Mancar1 »

I Have the Sanderson headers, Edelbrock aluminum intake, Aluminum valve covers, and Edelbrock air cleaner. Now when the Holly carb shows up and the 2.5" dual exhaust and all else is installed the 68 Camper Special 390 will wake up a little  :D :drive:

The parts list sounds is really familiar...Can I add to your list?
- Since ya gotta pull the rocker arms and push rods, consider installing a 70 carb jet under the rocker stand's oiling passage to direct more oil to the mains. A pair is abuot $5.
- A 3/4-inch heater hose fitting for aftermarket manifolds... NPD PN 18599-10 ($10). It 's a 90° fitting which omits the extra port for the carb spacer.
- Thermostat

Btw, I suggest removing the 3/8-inch pipe plugs and flushing the block before installing the headers. One on each side. It requires a 3/8-inch socket unless it has petcocks.. I undid mine and nothing came out until a poked it with a small screwdriver and then torrents of grit, slime, and scale came out. You'll be amazed at how much coolant remains in the block even after it is apparently empty. It's the only right way to do it.
