Google (BOT)

Hello team, before I signed on this morning I took a look at the forum....At the bottom of the page where members are listed, it seemed that I was the only one there.. In the space provided was : Google (BOT)........My field is auto mechanics, not computer's... Can anyone help me in telling me what this is...I typed in Google (BOT) in the search bar, but don't understand the information that was provided...
I need a simple explanation as to what is going on............Donnie

Google bot is what populates search engines, in this case Google.

Go to Google, search 'www.fordification.com Google bot' and this thread should show up.

Is this normal? Should I be concerned? Before the only thing that would show up is Google, until I signed in. The BOT just appeared this Am

Am I to assume that it takes you to an actual thread, & not just to the site....Is this true on ANY site? It will take someone to your actual thread & not to the site itself........The search said that it could be someone else, an imposter? & it explained how to find out, but I don't understand the lingo......gotta leave now, will check in later........thanks, Donnie

It's a web crawler, it's used to populate search engines and archives.

It's not evil so don't worry about it.

When you see NSAbot, worry because the .gov is coming for your truck.

What you failed to notice was the comma between 'GoogleBot' and your name. You weren't the only one on the forums...there were two entities onboard at the time. You and GoogleBot.
