205 xcase speedo cable swap

Post by F100camperspecial »

Just in case anybody else swapped out the D21 xcase in their F100 for a 205 and needs a speedometer cable--use Pioneer part #CA-3010. I swapped the 2wd 435 and married D21 for a fwd 435 and married 205. Only problem was my speedo cable was too short-- 68''. The CA-3010 cable is 81"--about a foot longer--it works great. Put in yesterday and now I have speedo! :D :D
Schuck's list the cable for a 2wd with manual tranny. Auto zone has it too, they just did not know it-- you need the part #

I had heard that you needed to change the front Diff to a hi pinion to overcome driveshaft angle problems. how did yours work out?
or do you already have the HP44?

My truck already had the HP 44 in it. The drivelines out of the wrecking yard '77 F150 bolted right up. I used the 351M motor, 4wd 435 4 speed, married 205, exhaust, drivelines, and radiator out of the '77 F150. I'm hoping to use the'77 PS box later on to convert to PS.

that explains that! LOL
I've been thinking of dropping the 203 (or 205 whatever it is) into my truck. but then I lose my PTO for the Hydraulics I am installing (OK trying to install) LOL

kind of a little joke here but when some people start talking about married to this and divorce from that. it mean bolted on to or not in a matter of speaking. but sometimes it kind of sounds like a soap opera of some sort. like the days of our ford lives.

Hey, on the hydrualics, what about a fan belt pump mounted on the motor? My brother works at a hydraulic shop (HPI), and keeps telling me that I should convert the PTO winch on my Willy's to hydraulic. This way instead of pulling until something snaps or breaks, it hits a release valve at a set value and stops. :hmm: :hmm:

I've thought about that, but haven't seen a pump I can afford that mounts to the engine.
My setup will be the PTO running a pump going to a hyd. motor running the winch thru a driveshaft. I suppose a pressure limiter can be incorporated into this design, but I hadn't seen the need so far.
I figured if tow trucks run directly off the PTO hydraulic motor, it would be OK in my application.

did that make any sense?

Sure, why reinvent the wheel when you don't have to! I understand the low on green thing. I'll seen some pretty cool winch setups on Jeeps that run right off the existing power steering pumps. When working with the mechanical, if a guy has enough bolts, scrap iron, electrical wire, welding rod, duct tape, junkyard parts, coffee and twinkies; it is amazing what can happen! :D  :D

I got lots off everything but the coffee and twinkies!
milemarker makes a winch that works right off the power steering pump, but like everything else, it is spendy. and as I am building this wrecker with a budget of .....well whats less than none??........ I gotta scrounge for what I can. its taken me 6 years to get the parts together for this conglomeration.

BTW
I have to steal that for my signature line!
