looking into a new truck....

Post by 67_ford_f100 »

Was searching craigslist like usual and saw a 1971 f100 ranger.... the add says $5500 or trade for lincoln towncar (we have a towncar)... Would my 67 grille and steering wheel fit on this truck? (like the 67 grille and wheel better) also does it look like a 4wd to you? I dont think so but some of my family does.

trade for large car (Crown Vic/Grand Marquis/Lincoln Towncar)

Minor work in winter equals fun in the Spring (selling due to health issues)
Runs 100%
360 V8 automatic - factory air - 63500 miles
new master cylinder, electronic ignition, exhaust, mufflers, tail pipes
newly covered seat
new battery, tires, brakes all around, 2 new rear axle seals
needs front cab mounts
new body side moldings

here is the pics that show it off good (others are just interior)

Looks 2wd to me. 4x4 has less rake in the suspension, and sits higher than that. The '67 grille and steering wheel will fit with slight modifications. You'll have to cut the nub at the end of the splines on the steering shaft off to install the wheel. And you'll need the lower valence from the '67 to install the grille on the '71. While the '67 grille will install as is without issues; there will be a larger than normal gap around the inside of the turn signals. About half way down this page is info about the lower valence. http://www.fordification.com/tech/67-72ID_02.htm

It's an automatic, can't be a stock 4x4. That air conditioner isn't factory either, but a dealer hang-on unit.

Nice looking truck, definitely not a 4 x 4. Clearance for that series isn't high enough without serious modifications.

I think his price is a bit high unless it's truly rust free. Cheesy clearance lights and speaker cut outs in the doors is a price reducer.
