Swapping F250 to F100

Post by benden »

I would like to use my rebuilt 390 and C6 out of my 70'F250 and put it into my 69' F100 w/302 and C4. Are there any issues or concerns that I might run into? I know the tranny hump is bigger in the C6. I think there may be some differences in the F100/F250 chassis. The 69 is in body and paint. I would like to use the 70 as the donor and put the 302 and C4 in the 70 to sell. Thanks guys.

There shouldn't be any issues other than the tranny hump in the cab and your motor mounts. Swapping your motor mounts and making sure you have the high hump for clearance is all you need to do to drop the 390 and C6 in. Of course, the drive shaft is something that will have to be addressed as the length will probably be off when you swap the transmissions, but as for the body and frame, both the 390 and the C6 fit into F250s and F100s. More than likely, you can use the drive shaft from your 70 as well and everything should go together just fine.

great. thanks. Is the tranny hump something that the F100 could adapt to? Thanks for your input.

The hump is just the removable tranny cover. If your 70 has the C6 in it, then you have the high hump in that cab. Just unscrew the cover and swap it into your other cab. All of the parts are interchangeable. You will be able to swap the entire drivetrain from an F100 to an F250 and vice versa. There is no difference between the 2 other than the thickness of the metal in the frame and the suspension.
