Rebuilding Steering Column

Post by marvin2 »

I'm curious to hear of anyone's experience in rebuilding a steering column....or if there is a tutorial / write up somewhere.

I have an automatic column from a '73 - '77 dentside that I could use, if it were rebuilt. The gear selector seems to be stuck and won't move. Also the wrag joint flange at the bottom of the shaft has a good bit of play, like you can jiggle it around within the column housing.

I've seen the column schematic from the maual, which should be really helpful, just curious if there is a step by step out there; or if there are certain things to look out for.

Thanks guys,

If there's a step by step procedure, I didn't find one since I recently rebuilt my tilt column and was looking for an article on how to do it. I figured it out though and it wasn't too hard. I would imagine an automatic non - tilt column would be even easier to rebuild.
