Brake Line Hold Down- Where to Buy
I made new brake lines for my truck and in the process of replacing them the brake line hold down broke due to being weak from rust. It is located on top of a bracket off of the power steering gear ( attached to the top of the steering gear) and basically is a bolt with two bent pieces of metal that clip around each brake line so they don't move around. I checked LMC but couldn't find it in the parts schematic on the steering gear. Where can I find a replacement besides a junkyard? Also what is this piece actually called, that would at least give me a name to track one down. All the yards around me have no older trucks. Thanks for the help

I don't know of anyone reproducing the bracket(s) (there are various bracket designs depending on steering gear box type, manual brakes vs power brakes and if the truck has a 6 cylinder or V-8).
I'm pretty sure this will be a wrecking yard item --unless someone here has what you need. Posting a photo of the brake line bracket you have (or what's left of it) may help.

Speedway motors has some after market brake line clips that may work for you...> http://www.speedwaymotors.com/Search?qu ... ne%20clips
Summit or Jegs probably has something less expensive. I've seen similar brackets/clips in the hardware section at Lowes.

Thanks, it looks very similar to this, http://www.speedwaymotors.com/Stainless ... 35267.html . Only difference is the original wrapped around the line more. i would post a pic but I don't have the truck right now, it's in a shop where I work on it the next city over. I should be able to make something up from the site. I have power brakes, power steering gear, and a V8. Wrecking yards around here are bad for old trucks and only one yard even likes to buy them, I've only seen one bump there in the past year and it was only a shell. Looks like I'll have to fab something up with what's available online. Thanks again

When i worken in the diesel and transmission shop we always used shop supplied clamps. We had every size from 1/4" to 2". For dual lines like the clamp u need just use 2 end-to-end with a single bolt. I dont know what they are called but ive drawn what they look like. The red areas have a vinyl plastidip type coating to prevent chafing. They work well for brake lines, heater hoses, loomed wiring harnesses, anything you want together but spaced apart. Can even be used just clamped together and not bolted down. They look sharp too.
