Proportioning Valve

Post by JohnR »

Hi folks,

While I haven't posted anything, I've been perusing this site for months and have found it immensely helpful. Thanks for the sound advice across the board.

I'm in the process of getting a 1970 2WD F100 back in running condition. In the process, I ended up putting in a front disc brake set up from a 1974. I've got a proportioning valve but am trying to track down the brake warning light switch connector/wiring. Does anyone happen to have one or know where I could get one? I'd be willing to get the entire valve/wiring combo if that's what it took. Thanks in advance for the help

Is the wiring pigtail connector from your truck's wiring harness missing?

You are a genius - never occurred to me to check that. I assumed the distributing block from the drum brake set up had something totally different from the disc/drum combo proportioning valve. The pigtail that I had removed fits like a charm and should work. Thanks for pointing that out!

The plastic brake warning switch on a Ford drum/drum pressure differential valve is the same for a disc/drum brake valve.

I believe the '67s had a single wire connector that plugged into the valve warning switch (at least this is the case on a '67 Mustang). '68 and up Ford vehicles have a two-wire warning switch connector.

I wouldn't say I was a "genius." I've just had a lot of experience in working with Ford brake systems.
