Like the title says I am converting my auto column to a no shifter column because I will be running a floor shifter. I have the correct collar for the top of the column but as I am putting things back together I am wondering about how the top of the column will go together. In a shifter collumn you have the shift tube that the shift collar slides over. The no shift collar has nothing in it. Has anyone reworked a no shift column or do you have a diagram of the no shift column? I can only seem to find the shifter column diagram.

Re: Converting Auto Column to "No Shifter" Column
Not exactly sure because I've never actually had one but from what I can tell in the diagram http://www.fordification.com/tech/image ... column.jpg the collar has a couple of threaded holes. Some aftermarket ones I've seen on the web have some long machine screws threaded into them. I would think there's a couple of holes in the tube flange that those screws go through to thread into the collar. Even if you don't have a shifter, I would think you still have a blank shift tube that sticks down into the bottom bracket of the column and comes up through the tube flange to keep the tube flange centered. Either that or the upper/lower column bearings are the only thing holding the shaft centered. Any of you original floor shift guys got any pics of this?

A couple of thread on tilt auto column conversions to "shiftless"... it's a 78/79 but the principles remain the same.
